What is a podcast?
A podcast is an audio file, usually in MP3 format, which is part of a sequence of similar files that can be detected and downloaded by appropriate software, e.g. iTunes. A single audio file is not, strictly speaking, a podcast, although the term has come to be used to describe any speech-based audio file that is stored on the internet. Creating podcasts offers opportunities for children to write and speak with an awareness of audience. They are best produced by groups of children to develop teamwork skills.

- A Teachers TV video on podcasting (from TES Connect) focuses on work at Weston Point Primary School in Runcorn - a parnership school.
- Audacity is free software for making and editing audio files. To make MP3 files, Audacity needs the LAME MP3 encoder to be installed.
